Infinix has launched the Hot 70 Pro 5G in India, and its most unusual feature is not the processor or battery. A small Active Matrix Cube on the rear can show visual alerts for calls, messages, charging, weather and other events, giving the phone a distinct identity in a crowded mid-range market. The hardware around it includes a 6.76-inch FHD+ 144Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G chipset, 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 main camera and a 6,000mAh battery with 45W charging.

Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G price in India and sale date

The Hot 70 Pro 5G is offered in 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configurations. Published launch information lists the regular prices at ₹24,999 and ₹27,999 respectively. Eligible Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI card transactions can receive a ₹2,000 instant discount during the launch offer, taking the effective starting price to ₹22,999. Buyers should treat that as an offer price rather than the permanent retail price.

Sales are scheduled to begin on September 7 through Flipkart, with the phone also being offered through Infinix and retail channels. Four finishes are available: Thermo Orange, Mirage Green, Silk Glow Purple and Dive Blue. The designs are more than simple colour swaps. Thermo Orange responds to temperature, while Mirage Green uses a light-reactive effect.

What does the Active Matrix Cube actually do?

The Active Matrix Cube, or AMC, is a small interactive element built into the rear panel. It can display visual effects for incoming calls, messages, charging status, low-battery alerts, camera functions, countdowns and weather. It can also provide ambient effects during startup, music playback and gaming, and users can customise some of its output.

This is not a full secondary smartphone screen, so buyers should not expect the functionality of a foldable phone's cover display. Its value is mainly glanceable information and personalisation when the phone is face down. Whether that is genuinely useful or simply a design feature will depend on how often you use notification lights and always-on displays.

144Hz display and Dimensity 7100 performance

The phone uses a 6.76-inch FHD+ LCD with up to 144Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling and around 910 nits of quoted high-brightness-mode output. The high refresh rate should make scrolling and supported games look smoother, although it is worth noting that this is an LCD rather than an AMOLED panel. Buyers who prioritise deeper blacks and higher contrast should compare similarly priced AMOLED alternatives.

MediaTek's Dimensity 7100 5G handles processing, paired with UFS 2.2 storage. Infinix promotes support for gaming at up to 90fps in supported titles. Those are manufacturer claims and should not be treated as independent benchmark results. Sustained frame rates can vary with the game, graphics settings, temperature and software version.

50MP Sony IMX882 camera is a notable hardware choice

The main rear camera uses a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. Infinix includes 2x lossless zoom, AI Live Photo, AI Eraser, AI Extender and a one-tap vlog mode. An 8-megapixel camera sits on the front for selfies and video calls.

The Sony sensor gives the Hot 70 Pro credible camera hardware on paper, but sensor branding alone does not determine image quality. Processing, HDR behaviour, low-light tuning and video stabilisation matter just as much, so camera-focused buyers should wait for independent samples before treating it as a class leader.

6,000mAh battery, 45W charging and reverse charging

A 6,000mAh battery powers the phone, with 45W wired fast charging and 10W reverse charging. Infinix says the battery can reach about 50% in roughly 25 minutes and a full charge in around 63 minutes under its test conditions. Real charging times will vary with temperature, usage while charging and the power source.

The capacity is comfortably above the traditional 5,000mAh baseline, but battery size competition in India has become aggressive. Some recent phones now use substantially larger cells, so the Hot 70 Pro's advantage is better described as a large battery in a relatively design-focused phone rather than the biggest battery available at its price.

Android 16 and a stronger update promise

The Hot 70 Pro ships with XOS 16 based on Android 16. Infinix promises three major Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates. That support window is an important part of the buying decision because inexpensive and mid-range phones are increasingly being kept for several years.

The software also includes Infinix AI tools such as call assistance, writing functions, recording summaries and subtitles, plus a configurable button that can provide quick access to selected functions. Buyers should judge these features on usefulness rather than the AI label, since availability and language support can differ between tools.

IP68 protection and practical extras

Infinix gives the Hot 70 Pro an IP68 dust and water-resistance rating. It also includes expandable storage through a microSD card slot. Water resistance should still be treated as accident protection, not a reason for deliberate water exposure, because resistance can diminish with wear and physical damage.

How the Hot 70 Pro fits into India's current phone market

The launch lands during a particularly busy stretch for Indian smartphone buyers. Vivo's T5 5G focuses on a much larger 7,050mAh battery and curved AMOLED display, while Poco's X8 series is pushing battery capacity even harder. Redmi's 17 5G is another recent battery-focused launch. Infinix is therefore differentiating the Hot 70 Pro more through its interactive rear element, colour-changing designs, camera sensor and software-support promise than through battery capacity alone.

Who should consider the Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G?

The phone makes the most sense for buyers who want something visually different from the usual slab design, but still need a large battery, high-refresh display, 5G and a capable main camera sensor. The IP68 rating and five-year security commitment also make it more attractive for buyers planning to keep the phone beyond a typical two-year upgrade cycle.

Who should skip it?

Buyers who care more about display technology than design extras may prefer an AMOLED rival. Heavy gamers should also wait for sustained-performance testing rather than relying on claimed peak frame rates. If battery capacity is your single biggest priority, compare the newest Poco and other large-battery phones before buying, because 6,000mAh is no longer unusually large in this segment.

Is the Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G worth buying?

At an effective launch price of ₹22,999 for eligible card users, the Hot 70 Pro has an interesting mix of features. Its strongest differentiators are the Active Matrix Cube, expressive rear finishes, Sony IMX882 main camera, IP68 rating and relatively long software-support promise. The trade-offs are the LCD display and a battery that, while large, faces newer rivals with even greater capacities.

For most buyers, the sensible approach is to compare the regular ₹24,999 starting price rather than making the decision around a temporary bank offer. If you value design and personalisation alongside everyday hardware, the Hot 70 Pro deserves a shortlist spot. If camera consistency, sustained gaming performance or display quality are your top priorities, independent reviews after the September 7 sale will provide a better basis for a final decision.
